An unsere Herforder Freunde

Mit tiefer Traurigkeit und Bedauern muss ich Sie über die jüngste Entscheidung des Hinckley-Komitees (Hinckley- Herford- Town- Twinning- Association) informieren, sich aufzulösen. Aufgrund einer alternden Gruppe und des Mangels an fähigen Freiwilligen wir die Arbeit leider nicht weiterführen.
Diese Entscheidung wurde nicht leichtfertig und schweren Herzens getroffen. Wir alle wünschen uns, dass die derzeitige Situation anders wäre und wir weitermachen könnten. Wie Sie sicherlich wissen, ist die Gesamtzahl der Mitglieder in den letzten Jahren stetig zurückgegangen. Am letzten Austausch konnten nur 3 Mitglieder teilnehmen.
Auch wenn sich unsere Association formell aufgelöst haben wird, bleibt eine ewige Freundschaft zwischen unseren beiden Städten und den Menschen in ihnen bestehen. Ich spreche für uns alle, wenn ich sage, dass die Leute, die wir während unseres Austauschs getroffen haben, unvorstellbar freundlich waren und wir hoffen, dass Sie dies genauso empfinden werden.
Ich bin mir sicher, dass wenn Sie jemanden Ihrer Freunde in Hinckley auf individueller Basis besuchen möchten, mehr als willkommen sein werden.

To Our Herford Friends

It is with the deepest sadness and regret that I must inform you of the recent decision of the Hinckley group committee to disband. Unfortunately, due to an aging group and lack of able volunteers we feel it is unsustainable to continue.

This decision was not taken lightly and was taken with a heavy heart. We all wish that the current situation was different and we could continue. As I am sure you are aware over the past few years our total number of members has been at a steady decline, with only 3 members able to attend the last exchange.

Whilst our group will have formally disbanded one thing that will remain throughout time is an everlasting friendship between our two towns and the people within them. I speak for all of us when I say that the people we have met whilst on our exchanges have been unimaginably friendly and we hope that you will feel the same.

I am sure that if anyone would like to visit any of your friends in Hinckley on an individual basis then you will be more than welcome. All of us from Hinckley wish you all the best with the future.
